Complaint sends inspectors to Wichita Dollar Tree; One dead mouse, fresh droppings in back room along floor/wall juncture and around the furnace

Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 4/15/2020 following receipt of a complaint. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Dollar Tree was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 1 violation was cited.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violation found during the inspection:

  • No live rodents observed, however there are fresh droppings in the back room along the floor/wall juncture and in some protected areas like around the furnace. One dead mouse observed in a trap. Establishment receives regular pest control and is currently having Terminex come out to the establishment every week.
