Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/26/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Dillon’s Store was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • In the cold holding case in the deli department, there were various items such as turkey, ham and chicken deli meat dated for 8 days. COS labeled for 7 days
  • In the cold holding case in the deli department, there was a loaf of Cherry wood ham with a discard date of 8/26. The open date of the cherry wood ham was 8/19. The ham was held for 8 days. COS discarded
  • At the west hand sink in the deli department, there was no hand soap present.
  • In the deli department in the facility, there were 20-25 live flies landing on food contact surfaces. There were 2 fly strips hanging over non food contact surfaces, and the fly light device was observed not working.
  • In the back storage room by the deli department, there was a package of fly hanging strips above ready to eat packages of mayonnaise. COS moved
  • In aisle 14, there were numerous bottles of hand sanitizer over 6 packages of single use paper plates. Note: no leakage observed COS moved
