The Kansas of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 22, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina in Overland Park was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • [repeated violation] Two pitchers with visible hairline cracking on the food contact surfaces were stored as clean and usable in the clean dish area. Corrected on site: Educated, removed from use.
  • [repeated violation] Twenty unclean dishes with food debris and sticker residues on the food contact surfaces were stored as clean in the clean dish area. Corrected on site: Moved to be rewashed.
  • [repeated violation] Two live, frisky adult cockroaches and one live baby cockroach on the wall by the reach in cooler on the wall bordering the bar area. Fifteen live small flying insects around the chemical sanitizer containers in the bar area. Last pest control treatment was 11/14.
