Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/18/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Phillips 66 Fuel Expresso 17 was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The restaurant has out been found, “Out of Compliance” for three straight regular inspections:

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

 

  • Located in the WIC, there were raw shell eggs stored on a perforated shelf above an opened container of RTE mayonnaise. No leakage. COS- Educated PIC, eggs moved to a better location.
  • Located in the WIC, there was an opened package of RTE polish sausage cold holding with no date marking. PIC said they were opened 8-15. COS- Educated PIC, sausage dated.
  • None of the appetizers in the hot case were marked with time. PIC said they were made within the last hour. COS- Educated PIC, foods marked with time.
  • There are approximately 20-30 flying insects (house flies) flying around the kitchen, and dining areas and landing on food, food counters, tables. FE uses pest control monthly. Suggestions if flying insects are an issue: • Notify pest control • Install flying insect light trap • Install wall fans for more air circulation • More cleaning • Fly traps in approved locations • Exterior fly killer around dumpster areas • Keep doors tightly closed • Discard any old equipment and any piles of trash or piles of papers • Using Food establishment approved insect spray only • Clean trash cans, mop heads, and floors frequently Not Corrected on site.
  • Located in the dish area, there were spray bottles with blue, and white liquid with no labeling. PIC was able to identify the liquids. COS- Educated PIC, bottles labeled.
  • Located in the storage area, there were spray bottles of cleaners stored on a perforated shelf above RTE bulk soda syrup. No leakage. COS- Educated PIC, cleaners moved to a better location.
