The Kansas of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/14/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Haskell Food Mart was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The highest recorded temperature of hot water was 62F from the women’s restroom hand sink. Inspector ran hot water from each distribution point for at least 3 minutes. PIC stated that hot water is inconsistently available. FE does not clean utensils or dishes soiled by PHF/TCS foods. FE may continue to operate to sell prepackaged, non-PHF/TCS foods. Not COS. Will require a follow up to ensure hot water of at least 100F is available.
  • The hand sink at the beverage station has highest water temp of 55F. The men’s restroom hand sink has highest water temp of 61F. The women’s restroom hand sink has highest water temp of 62F. All faucets were ran for at least 3 minutes. The FE does not cook or heat foods and does not have the need to wash dishes or in-use utensils. All products sold at FE are non-PHF/TCS and prepackaged. A follow up will be necessary to ensure hot water of at least 100F is available. Not COS.
  • No paper towels or other hand drying provisions at the beverage station hand washing sink. COS: PIC put paper towels next to sink.
  • A working spray bottle containing a purple chemical was stored on a shelf in the utility room without a name. PIC said it was surface cleaner. COS: Labeled.
